Bevvies & Braids was born from a real conversation between two best friends sitting on the sofa during maternity leave. The idea came from a moment of pure clarity during labour: wanting my hair put up or plaited, and suddenly realising my husband had no idea how to do either—not even a basic ponytail.
A bit of research showed us that dad-focused hair workshops were already a growing movement over in America, but nothing like it existed here in New Zealand. We wanted to change that.
Our mission is to create a fun, entirely relaxed space where dads can learn a practical skill that is too often dismissed as "mum's job," without a single ounce of pressure or embarrassment. That's why we run our workshops straight out of local bars and breweries—familiar, low-stakes environments where you can grab a cold beverage, share some banter, and walk away with a fantastic skill your daughters will love you for.
